Yes!!! I absolutely agree! I love to play with texture, and I need a material that easily builds and shapes. So oil it will be.
I think that the look of acrylics has something to do that it is polymers. It looks plastic, because it is plastic. The human skin is a bit oily, so I think oil is best for realistic portraits.
I am pulled towards the idea of taking up painting with oil since I've been working with oil pastels. But now I'm like really, really convinced. Thanks for doing that! I love helpful comments like this!
I just have to create a supply list to not get lost in the art shop. :)
