I met this wonderful lady here on Steemit - @neeqi, Sarah and she had a super idea to do a collaboration!
Even though we live on the opposite sides of the world, that is no obstacle, we’re collaborating over the internet!
Still, I really hope to meet her one day, this sweet and ethereal nature child!

The idea

The idea was to create a symbolic, horoscope-themed artwork, representing each other. Sarah is a Taurus-Capricorn and her favourite colour is green. I think rich, vibrant greens really characterize her. Maybe it seems to me so because of the wonderful nature she often shows in her videos. Look at her vlogs, you’ll see how the lively nature of Australia really befits her!

The result

So this is what I came up with:

The circle is the centerpiece that holds it all together, you can see I used it as the base shape of the Taurus sign symbol, and that the right ‘horn’ is weaved so to represent the Capricorn symbol. The ‘horns’ are twisted as if they were vines of the Sweet Pea flower (a flower of the Taurus zodiac).

For me, circle represents astrology in general and life - because existence is always a cycle. We are born in this body, then we cease to experience life in this body, but the energy we have - our soul - continues to flow, just in another form.

The sky is a map

I’m pretty much interested in astrology, but of course I know more about the signs that are mine or of the people around me.

This collaboration was like getting to know Sarah a bit better, and the interesting thing is - that I did it through painting.

I’ve found that astrology explains a lot about the person, in my experience, astrology charts have proven to be so accurate in describing one’s personality and fate. I feel that the sky above us, with every sparkling star, is there for a reason, I agree with the ancient Greeks and Arabs, that the sky is a map - a reflection of the life that’s going on here on the Earth.

It was super interesting to do some some plant-astrology research, which was useful when thinking of how could I conceptualize Sarah’s whole personality in one painting. Of course, I believe I could get a whole new set of ideas, if I had the chance to meet her (Steemit, make this happen in the future, fingers crossed!).

From all the plants I chose:

• thyme - a plant of the Capricorn sign
• lavender - flower of the Taurus
• a faint notion of the sweet pea vines - also a flower of the Taurus

I enjoyed the collaboration a lot, and I look forward to our meeting in person, then I’ll also have the chance to give her the artwork in person!

Sarah is definitely an inspiration! Seeing that she had started to vlog, it encouraged me to do that, because for me it was a new thing, too!
