Typography - Making Language Expressive

in #art8 years ago

Hey guys,

Today I wanted to share one of my typographic illustrations with you all. We were taught the basics of typography and as Jaipur is a culturally rich city, we were given a task where we had to select anything that reflects Jaipur and illustrate in our typography. After that we had to make a digital poster for tourism. These are my final works.

In the image above, I used pink and purple colors, with white incomplete rhombus kind of figures. I took inspiration from "bandhani" technique which means "to tie".  The technique involves dyeing a fabric which is tied tightly with a thread at several points, thus producing a variety of patterns  depending on the manner in which the cloth is tied.

In the image above I took elephants to reflect Jaipur. I wanted to play with space. And created the "J" in such a way that it composed the head of an elephant and shaded the entire part to make it look like one.

Brainstorming

( some ideations and trial)

I loved doing these illustrations, which helped me understand the culture and heritage of Jaipur deeply as well as enhanced my skills in typography from ideations to execution. I hope you guys liked it and found it interesting :)

Lots Of Love <3
