Ever Tried to Make Symmetrical Art for a Person with OCD? 😬

in #art7 years ago

The next painting I'm working on is for a patron of mine in the Bronx, NY. He's actually a collector of my work, he already owns 4 of my paintings and a bunch of my t-shirts! This is the first time I've done a custom piece for him though. To be honest - I'm a bit nervous lol 😬

He'd be the first to admit he has OCD when it comes to symmetry, and he only owns some of my paintings that are as close to perfectly symmetrical as possible. Any tilt, or a tiny touch off center, or some parts of the pattern being a tiny bit crooked, and it drives him nuts! Since I do all my art freehand, they've usually got a tiny bit of one or the other of those things going on lol

He wants a simple white pattern on a black background, 10 x 10 inches, with a sort of futuristic alien vibe.

Here's what I started with

And here's where I'm at so far

I am sure you are going to do a great job!

Great job, Adam! I am most certain your client would love your work, because of his OCD. It's perfect!

So far so good! Now to keep it all lined up as the pattern grows lol

It looks symmetrical to me, but it must be very nerve wracking. Keep up the great work!

Good luck, hope he likes it lol

Me too man, me too! lol

Lookin good so far. Cant wait to see the finished masterpiece! Love that you give process updates.

I love that I can share the process pictures here and algorithms don't hide my posts from people, or show them in the wrong order! lol

Thanks for posting. I can see that it is a stretched canvas. What kind of paint is this? Acrylic?

Yes, acrylic paint on canvas :)
