Artist Being A Subject By Other Artists

in #art7 years ago (edited)

As an artist myself, I am used to people asking me for free portrait sketches which is ridiculous but I know where they're coming from. Imagine being the subject of an artist you like and for free, right? But people should also consider the amount of love and labor an artist go through just to finish one drawing, and the amount of self-discipline and perseverance just to achieve that level of excellence; it's not good all the time just because they're doing what they like.

On that note, I am humbled and I greatly appreciate my artist friends who volunteered to draw my picture, albeit being such low-class selfies. Imagine the thrill of having a drawing after you by really talented friends. Yep, artists would like to be drawn, too!

Let me share to you the portraits after me and the stories behind them!

If I remember correctly, Sir Levibalubayan Artz really liked my singing and only asked for a cover of one particular Christmas song as an exchange for this portrait drawing.

The artist, Jom Bacz, randomly asked me if it's okay for him to draw my selfie, and I replied with a resounding yes! Because who in their right mind can resist, right?

Year Completed2014

Kuya Marko, as I call him, did this portrait back in 2014 using Prismacolor pencils. And take note, it was his first time using it and I was so humbled that he picked my selfie to test the pencils out. I think he liked my picture because of how the light played on my face, and needless to say he nailed it. This is probably my most favorite to date because it is closest to my style.

Although still a work-in-progress, I already fell in love with this drawing mainly because I look like a Disney character and it's made by my good friend and schoolmate in college, Emman. He is very successful now and is well-known among business owners in our city because he does amazing wall arts and is a very professional individual which I really like most about him.

Go check out @gailbelga's interview of Emmanuel here.

Given to me by my very good friend, Budin. I do not know the exact reason why he did this, but I'd like to believe this was a birthday gift since he gave this to me a week before my birthday.

A magical artwork from an equally magical individual. Abi is one of my most favorite people in this entire universe, and I am so happy to be one of her few, well-chosen subjects. The line art is just as stunning, right? And also, I cannot wait to share an interview I did with her. She is a fantastic writer as well!

Being a subject by another artist really excite me. I am humbled and full of gratitude towards them.

And if you happen to wonder what format did I use in pointing out the details on the drawing, check out @juliank's very handy tutorial here.

I hope you enjoyed the portraits I shared! Namaste!

And I am forever grateful!

This is so cool! If only everyone has a set of portraits like that. Who wouldn’t want to see how different artists view them?

Right? I am very lucky to have met such talented artists. :) Glad you liked them!
