How earthquake in middle italy changed my life - #1

in #architecture7 years ago (edited)

20 years ago, september/october 1996, an earthquake hit Umbria and Marche, two of the main regions in the middle of italy.

I was 15 then, and were sleeping in the family villa (a building of XVII century circa) , i remember waking up with my room deformed by the shaking,  waking up my brother, my mother and my father, then running out of the building.

My house was damaged but keeps standing on, despite huge cracks on the main walls, it was still standing, wonderful.

20 years have passed since then, my parents died for other causes, and i took my parents house with all the cracks.

In 20 years there were no way to rebuild / repair the house, my father tried but someone opposed (1) , since they died, i moved to the region of Umbria (i born in Rome) to fix the building, again someone opposed, then a new earthquake stroke last year (2016) and this years so the Government said that he will help fix the house damaged or destroyed (2) .

In the meanwhile, when i moved here i was 30, 6 years ago, singled and working as 3d generalist for architects in Rome.
I met a girl, a vet, we had a baby, plan to marry and to move to my parents house, i leave Rome and  starting working as a IT / Ecommerce consultant for  business, its ain't easy, as i had diffuclt with local people and "someone" tried to threathen my new family but i still standing, as my old house, with a lot of cracks but with still a roof on it, hard to move, hard to repair, hard to destroy.

I still try 20years later, to fix my history and my parents house.
