Venice, capital of the Veneto region in northern Italy, occupies more than 100 small islands in a lagoon of the Adriatic Sea. The city does not include any roads, only canals, including the Grand Canal, bordered by Gothic and Renaissance palaces. In the center, St. Mark's Square is home to St. Mark's Basilica, covered with Byzantine mosaics, and St. Mark's Bell Tower, overlooking the red roofs of Venice.

Nice photo, @simoait. Thanks for posting it.
So you were just a visitor or you live there? I went on holiday to a nearby town, Lido di Jesolo as a school kid back in '85. It was an amazing time and we had the choice of a trip to Venice, a trip to the Venetian islands and a trip to the deepest cavern in Europe in what was Yugoslovia (Ljubljana, now Slovenia). We had a choice of two. We declined the islands - which was the way I voted, I just assumed they'd be similar to Venice itself so why would you want to spend a day seeing them as well?
Have you been to the islands?
I thought the Rialto bridge was great (bought a tacky plastic gondola for the mother but didn't actually ride on a real one). St. Mark's square was cool. Only went in one building, but the one I did, I looked up and the ceiling was full of gold. It looked amazing.
Would love to go back. Hope you had a great time there (if you were just passing through).
I'am a visitor i was spending good time in italy and especially rome and venice.
thank you for your comment, I wish you a good day.
