A group of archaeologists from China and the United States discovered two skulls near the Chinese city of Xuichang belonging to an unknown human species. The first fragments of scientists began to find in 2007. Since then, 45 fossils have accumulated, which they managed to assemble into two incomplete human skulls.
After analyzing the remains, the scientists established that the skulls belong to a certain "transitional" type of man, which was a "hybrid" of modern man and Neanderthal man.
According to preliminary estimates, the age of skulls is about 105-125 thousand years. This finding can serve as proof that the Neanderthals in the distant past inhabited the modern territory of southern China.
