Hope you win. Hungry, Hungry Hippos is one of my all time favorite games from childhood. When I tell people about it in this age, the don't know what I am talking about. The spring action hippos were something else.

Lol! The crazy clattering din was also quite something else!

I don’t think I liked hungry hippos because it was noisy 😆 (I was a weird kid) I remember playing Mastermind, was never any good at it though 🤣 might have to get it for the boys 🙃

Hungry Hungry Hippos was crazy loud though... and that was just the game... the kids are usually screaming and yelling... I'm surprised that the levers generally survived the hammering!

The only gaming I've done is on a Amega computer back in 92 when I played lemmings and blooby...

Lemmings! I had forgotten about those little guys! Blooby... I don't know that one though...

It was out at the same time, maybe called blobbo or blobby

before falling into a bit of a decline due to the prevalence of console kiddies needing their hands held and nappies changed through every testosterone filled power trip.

LMAO dude, that reminds me of some article saying that a bunch of players was offended because Seikiro was too hard and wanted a lower difficulty mode lol.

Man Mastermind was a blast, it thought me a lot of things about breaking a code and security like your password shouldn't be 1234, yeah, that was a humiliating first game lol

Haha... crazy old man rant! I love that games are getting back to the roots and embracing difficulty again. XCOM and IronMan modes are really the best thing. Having games where you are learning to deal with setbacks are really a good way to train resilience and resourcefulness...

This is awesome. I remember the Hungry Hungry Hippos game from childhood. We had a lot of fund with that. But the video of the human version is a riot. I didn't know they did that.

I'm afraid it doesn't seem to have taken off! It would make an awesome Olympic sport!

Hungry Hippos would be the only game I am familiar with although I always thought it was a bit weird, lol We enjoyed the strategy board game called Risk. Played it for 3 days solid when we were snowed in with a friend...fun times :)

Dangerous to play a game of Risk when you are stuck together in real life! All the backstabbing in the game...

Oh wow, the memories! I never did master Mastermind (LOL!), but not only did I play Hungry Hungry Hippos for HOURS as a kid, I even inflicted it on our kids when they were young. So much fun!

I have more than a few faves from back then that I could blog about, so I might just give this a go as well. Thanks for the nostalgia, and the heads up about the contest, @bengy!

Yeah! You should definitely give this contest a swing! Lots of great games from the 70's ....

Hungry Hungry Hippos with humans is... pretty sweet..!

It's fricking awesome! I want it to be an Olympic Sport!

Both excellent childhood games! 😍

Although, looking at it from a parents perspective, I think I know which I would prefer on my home!

Games back then were more fun to play in my opinion. Regardless of how many upgrade monopoly is going through, the old games stays the best.
Also if we do compare the computer games, the developers of the older games needed to take more into account. There was only 1 button, in some rare cases 2. Now there are more than 8 to 10 buttons.
Guess I am getting old!

I used to play on the old Apple Macintosh, they had some pretty awesome games... considering the hardware power that they had at their disposal... much more relied on the imagination of the player!

Haha those are cool! I remember playing those games.
YOu know what game I also liked, 'the floor is lava'. Best. Game.Ever.

Haha... the floor is lava! How is it that kids all around the world and across generations manage to come up with that one... or some variation on it!

Nice choices for someone that didn't have a history in the 70's . I could have helped LOLmagnavox-odyssey-components.jpg

We owned one :D LOL

Now I'm curious about this! It looks a bit like a dismantled sewing machine! I have to look it up!

It was interesting.

Sup Dork! Enjoy the upvote!!!
