Apple Released Mac OS Catalina to App store today.

This new update to the Mac operating system is packed with some cool new features.

Sidecar

One of the features I like most is being able to extend my screen to my iPad. They are calling this Sidecar. With this feature you can annotate documents on your iPad and share them on your computer.

Find My

Find My helps you find our other Apple devices if they go missing

Another great feature which was built into iOS for so long is now Find My which you can now locate your Devices without having to login to iCloud.com with your browser as you previously had to do with Mac OS. This has been paired up with Find Friends to keep it all under one roof.

Notes

The New Notes App
Notes has been revamped to show thumbnails in a gallery type view. This makes it a little easier to sort through some kinds of notes. The search has been updated to be able to read text from within objects that have been scanned or inside images. I will have to test this out some more.

Reminders

The new Reminder App
Reminders App has been overhauled a little bit to make it easier for you to edit and flag reminders.

Apple TV

Now you can Apple TV wherever you are with your Macbook

Apple TV has been added to Mac OS, this is a pretty handy feature if you actually pay for Apple TV services. services.

App Store

The new App Store includes an Arcade where you can play from a bunch of new titles. For games that are built for iOS and Mac OS your license will transfer over. No more paying for multiple subscriptions.

Catalyst

With Mac Catalyst you can use some apps that were originally designed for iPad. I think this is probably something that was added due to Sidecar requirements.

Screen Time

The new Screen Time app for Mac OS
And finally a feature that has been on iOS for a while. Screen time, which times and restricts overuse of applications.

System Preferences

The Updated System Preferences Pane

System Preferences looks a bit different showing the Apple ID and Family Sharing up top and removing the iCloud option that was usually on the 3rd row.

Recap

Overall I think it looks pretty nice. I will see how much of the features I end up using regularly but overall I'd say there are some improvements for sure.
I will see how the battery life is over the next few days.

Let me know your thoughts.

Cheers
