... have long turned red, the first cars are already moving, and there's still people in the middle of the intersection?! And these people are not really in a hurry! It's almost a wonder that somehow all pedestrians reach the sidewalk before they get run over by the cars speeding up. And only every once in a while the last walker will have to hustle the final steps to avoid some merciless bumper sweeping him off the road. Again, there is a lot of trust in the tremendous Japanese considerateness. And no angry or impatient honking either...wouldn't work in NYC, I guess.
