... I didn’t want to disturb her...so I whipped my phone out...crouched down...snapped a few pics...and shouted like a little baby when she suddenly moved lightning quick (away from me I might add). I had called my business partner on the store line to let him know that she or her brethren were back from last year and he had a good laugh at me being startled like a bitch. He also tried to convince me that if I got bit it wouldn’t be that big of a deal as I wouldn’t die from it. Still...no thanks. It’s already been a miserably difficult week...no need to add to the fun by rushing to the hospital for antivenom. I’d rather be bit by ScarJo’s version. That’s probably about the only thing that would end the week on a positive. Anyone here ever been chomped by one of these?!?

Mate of mine got bit by an Australian redback/black widow, here in Australia. Was in hospital for observation for most of the day and for the next 2 weeks had no energy. Couldn't even lift hi 2 year old.
A child getting bit by one may die if untreated I guess, but it's the Funnel Web spider, particularly the Sydney Funnel Web, that holds the most fear here. Bastards.
