As it may hurt me emotionally in the short run (doing it still hurts me anyways)...I am learning to develop a sense of "Apoliteia" and become aloof to the news and politics that isn't directly relevant to me. Much of it is on the basis of personal development, some of it actually came long before Ambition2018, when I became exposed, and influenced by Traditionalism in my late 'teens and recently began understanding the 'Quietist' Shi'a perspective, although I don't agree with their tendencies towards rigid fiqhi (legal) conservatism.
From a practical standpoint, why worry about something you have absolutely no control over, and does not even affect your life directly? I can understand domestic politics and anything that effects your pocket books, the food on the table, or your legal and civil rights. Although some of the Traditionalists, like Julius Evola and Ernst Junger, are extreme in that notion and believe even contemporary political involvement for one's interest is also (and especially) undesirable.
Many people know me as a political person. Now I have become apolitical, although I still have my views and convictions and feel quite strongly and even a zealot about them. But too much politics degrades a man. Besides, there are areas much higher and more interesting than politics, like philosophy, ethics, religion, metaphysics, and conduct of what Confucius calls the "Junzi", or the superior man.
In concluding my statement...why not work on things that improve your way of being, improve your character and personality, broaden your mind, gives you access to abundance, increases your knowledge of matters worldly and spiritual? Why get trap yourself in excessive politics, wherein your focus tends to become narrow, causes you to be spiteful of people, closes your mind, fills your mind with high-minded ideals that will likely remain ideals with little to no basis on reality...and turns you in a frenzied fanatic over them.
