The idea of zombies is a way to dehumanize people. When the masses show up, it is far easier to ignore women and children if we do not see them as people. This is a very dangerous concept as climate change sets the stage for mass migration (ex. Syria into Europe). Focusing on living sustainable lives and promoting such living around us is truly the only way we avoid such a travesty become a reality.
