Beliefs and anxiety

Today I finally understood the meaning of this quote :

"Whether you think you can, or you think you can't - you're right." Henry Ford

You don't have the power to choose your thoughts because you would be a robot. Being human means being in charge of a wonderful machine but if you don't know you have control over the machine, you will misuse it.

The thoughts are not the problem, it's our relation to them. Especially when it comes to anxiety. Anxiety feeds itself of false beliefs and doubts.
If you believe you don't have control over your thoughts, you won't have control over them.
However, if you think you can choose which thoughts are worth believing, you will be in charge.

You can't control what's outside of you but you should be in charge of your own happiness. Doubt comes in when you start doubting you have no power over your mind and that's how anxiety gets it !
Believe in your power and start using it !

HAVE POWER OVER YOUR MIND : it doesn't mean you choose your thoughts but you choose to believe in them or not thanks to your logic and common sense.
With anxiety, you let your fear tell you what you should believe or not. You lose control.

  • You have power, not of which thoughts come to your mind BUT if you want to believe them or not.
  • The truth is what works for you. There is no right way : either you choose joy or misery. You choose to be in control or to let your fear decide.
  • Ask yourself : does this thoughts makes sense or not ? If not just let it go. You will realize 99% of anxious thoughts are not real threats.

You know the facts but you believe that something is true or false. It's the colour you give to your life. It's your perception of reality.

So either you think you have power or you think you don't, in both cases you are right ;-)
