Having moved to France during lockdown 2, I haven't had a chance to get out much and see the sights. Somewhere between lockdown 2 and 3 we managed to escape to this little gem in the Midwest of France near the Alps. I present the medieval Old Town of Annecy, a very popular and touristy place, and not surprisingly - Annecy has a lot to offer!
Even during the pandemic it was buzzing with people. Outdoor stalls offered galettes, crepes, beer, hot drinks and ice cream.
The old town was full of cobbled streets and bridges over the river Thiou, which is considered one of the cleanest rivers in Europe.
There was street art and street artists.
At the opposite side of Annecy you will find a breathtaking view of mountains and lake Annecy. It is fed by mountain springs and has the clearest water!
I will definitely be returning here soon. I'm thinking a picnic near the lake with a mountain view and a nice pint in one of the many terraced bars overlooking the river afterwards. Can't wait!
