The live-action adaptation of Netflix's One Piece could return to its production plans after the stoppage of more than a year induced by COVID-19, according to AWN.
The series, originally announced in January 2020, is a live-action adventure based on Eiichiro Oda's best-selling manga. Showrunner (author-producer) Steven Maeda recently shared an update on the frozen series on his Instagram account, assuring fans that the team "hasn't stopped working."
The show's codename, "Project Roger," seen on the door, could be a fun nod to Gol D. Roger, the Pirate King. Although this image is not a resounding announcement that the series is already having its filming, it is an update that assures fans that the series is not dead.
The series will follow the young Monkey D. Luffy on his pirate adventure to discover the treasure of "One Piece", which will transform him into the King of the Pirates.
The anime can currently be enjoyed by streaming and dubbed into Spanish by Netflix, in addition to being freely available on Pluto TV and Tubi, although with subtitles.
