New "Who Would Win" Posts

in #anime7 years ago

Hello Steemians!

I will give an introduction about the series of posts I am going to start.

What will it be about?

They will be about hypothetical death matches between two (or sometimes more) characters from different series. As I am more knowledgeable about the anime and manga, it will be mostly about them but I also know enough about movie or comic characters and if it isn't enough, I will research before posting.

Why am I starting this?

Because lately I discovered that I love debating in versus threads. I am sure when watching or reading something, everyone wondered at some point that how would it turn out a versus between a character from the show they are watching and another one. But it has generally no clear answers because different shows can have very different universe rules.
Because of this there are tons of debates (sometimes a little aggressive) about them in reddit, forums or on YouTube. And like every other thing that has so many people having opinions, this too have a problem:

Their conclusion can be utterly wrong.

Now before burning me, let me clear myself: I am not saying that I know the best and everyone is wrong but as you can agree, majority of watchers are casual. Period. They have a life and are not a nerd like me who also spends time for universe's mysteries like a fictional character's unimportant feats. And because of this you can see most upvoted opinions or votes telling you that a much weaker character can beat the obviously stronger one.

Because when many people votes for a versus it turns to Which is more popular? or Which character is cooler? instead of real question of Who would win?

Now let's look at some of the known sites for this kind of debates (that has a subforum for it) and a not so known one which I especially recommend.

Well known ones:

Who Would Win Subreddit:

This is probably the biggest one as it has over 165k subscribers. And you can see very good and detailed answers for versus threads but they are generally not at the top. Some of the top answers can be very wrong.

Death Battle! on YouTube:

I will be honest; these guys put some serious effort for their work. I also enjoy their videos but can't say same thing about their winners. While some of the winners are right, even they have wrong execution for their fight.

They generally take fanbases into consideration and try their best to not anger either side and thus most of the time fighter with obvious tier difference can be nerfed to similar level with another.

Basically, don't take their winners as facts.

VS Debates subforum on SpaceBattles:

This my favorite and recommendation. While it's not as well known as others, it has best quality. You can create a thread for VS and knowledgeable members for the respective series will answer you logically. SpaceBattles has a large number of sci-fi fans as the site's name implies and this also helps more replies with numbers which I like.

If you spend some time in there, you will see that many of threads will end with simple "Speed Blitz" answer especially if thread creator is a new member. It means that one of the chararters is much more faster than the other and it will end instantly.

And sometimes they are just completely different levels like putting a slightly above human character against a planet buster. Which means you probably will get the Vlad Tepes award for your cruelty.

Anyway, let's get the point how I will do it.

Format of My Posts

As I mentioned earlier, SpaceBattles is my favorite for this subject and I love science which means I will give clear answers with evidences. Sometimes there won't be a clear winner because when the opponents are in similar tier, winning will be tied with many things including luck.

I will use SpaceBattles style and there will be 2 scenarios for each post: "In Character" meaning a peaceful character's personality can hinder him or "Bloodlusted" which means all the personality switched off and they will try to kill each other.

Most important thing for deciding winner will be their shown or mentioned best feats. e.g. Saitama from OPM is said to has no limits, but saying that he can defeat any opponent from any series is simply "No Limits Fallacy" or "NLF" which also you will hear a lot in SpaceBattles, meaning that just because someone's limit for their powers not known it doesn't mean they don't have a limit. I will use their best feats for their limits depending on situation.

And lastly:

The sources I will use:

I will use Vsbattles for the ability list of characters and their tier system which I love but you can't take anything other than these seriously in Vsbattles. They wank nearly every series and their actual level is below what is showing in that site.

As for the feats; I will use my knowledge if I know them and will use their "Respect Thread" from different sites or their wiki.

That's it! Thanks for reading this. If you want a particular versus just reply here. If there is no reply, I will just use something myself. Though I love to do anime or manga versus, you can also ask for comic or movie characters.
