Meet My "Children"!

in #animals7 years ago

Okay...maybe you would call them pets, but that's just something I give them because to me, I'd call them family. The joy these little ones bring is immeasurable and my love for them is endless. So I would like to introduce to you my lovely companions.

This is my leopard gecko. His name is Mr. Sardonicus- named after a character from an old horror film. He eats a variety of insects such as superworms, mealworms, dubia roaches, crickets, and wax worms.

This is my wild mouse Kairi. He has been a joy. I made a post about him here: https://steemit.com/animals/@mandyteacup/i-saved-a-wild-mouse

My doggy, her name is Bat. She is so loyal and sweet to her family. She ADORES rats.

And finally, my two rats, Jeffery and Spoon. Jeffery is the naked guy. He is shy but gets in really silly playful moods. Spoon is more relaxed and is becoming a momma's boy.

I'd love to see your little (or not so little!) family members in the comments!

You have reptalian children? Are you an alien?

Haha, well, I must be!

I don't think we have geckos like that here, but we have skinks whick are like a little version of them. Also blue-tongue lizards which are fiesty little bastards!

Skinks and blue tongues are both so adorable, but I have never met one of either.

They are common in Australia, I had to help an old lady down the road as she had one get into her house one time, a blue tongue.

Aw, they're so cute. And your "children" are actually alive lol Mine are, well, plushies, so they're alive to me, because they are extensions of myself and I make them alive, but they're still inanimate objects, that require a lot less care than living beings. I suppose we all need those little cuddlies that are like children to us in our own way.

Your pets are all super cute.

Thank you! I love my plushies too. I grab any rat plushie I can find.

Do you make plushies?

No, I don't make any, though it's something that could be interesting to try, since I like to dabble in DIY. All my plushies are bought. I have a variety, many of them mice, frogs and owls, though the main gang consist of a hippo, a monkey, a little bear, and a chicky.

You and your zoo lol

very cute leopard geckos and the food is quite unique also kawanya he only eat worms and worms, extraordinary @mandyteacup

Thank you! It is good to variate the diet, so he gets what is safe that I can find in stores.

it's amazing my friend leopard gecko, if I may know where you live where @mandyteacup

Hai friend ?

I came for this post because of the ghecko. Never seen such a ghekko before. This is first time i am coming across a photo leopard ghecko.

Do these small animals recognise and interact with their owners like dogs and cats do?

I am sure they recognize the difference between people, and they somewhat interact, but they aren't social and loving in the same way a mammal is. They don't particularly enjoy being held.

good post, I'll be seeing your profile, I'll follow you and give you a few votes, I'd appreciate it if you'll also support me friend !!

Oh my God i am shocked to saw your family . I am always afraid from rats and also little bit from lizards . i like dogs i have a dog . your content is good .
All pics and your pets are looking so cute.

Thank you! Rats are very misunderstood animals. If you follow me, I hope I can show you just how sweet and darling they are. They're very similar to dogs. They love, they play, they form bonds. Very cute animals.

Its just amazing too know about rats . i was afraid of rats but after your post now i like rats.
I followed you

Thanks for showing us your family. That is the cutest dog ever! What breed is she? I can't work out if she has curly fur or if that's the blanket over her :D I've always thought lizards are adorable when they stick their tongues out like in your second picture. And they often look like they are smiling when they sunbathe. When it comes to rats I don't have much exposure but I believe you when you say they have their own definite personalities. I think all animals do really. It's a case of spending time with them and observing their ways.
