Bunny drama...

in #animals7 years ago (edited)

My daughter Goose has a pet bunny named Whiskers. This weekend, as in 5 days, we are leaving town to go on our annual trip to the Oregon coast for 11 days. My sweet daughter asked her neighbor friend to come and feed and water the bunny while we are gone. While going over what to do to take care of the bunny, he jumped out of her arms and is now loose in the backyard. This wouldn't be a problem except our backyard is in full production mode. Meaning there is plenty of places for a little 2 pound bunny to hide. Quintessential needle in the haystack scenario.

Any good ideas on how to fine a bunny in a backyard?

Live trap maybe? With apples and celery and lots of sweet-smelling goodness inside. (But probably on a plate or something so the ants don't get to it.)

I had a bunny living under our deck once. So she'll probably be camping out somewhere shady and then hopping around to forage during the day. See if you can find any of your veg that's been gnawed on. That might be a good place for the trap.

Thank you for your suggestion. I was just about to load up and go get a live trap from our farm supply store when I saw the little bugger sitting in the sand box. So the girls and I rounded him up and cornered him by the compost pile. :)
