Finally made it!! Beautiful experience. The park is clean and well run. A friendly face everywhere.
It's Oliver, making his outdoor debut for the day! I want to make it abundantly clear - Oliver is happy and healthy and perfectly fine!
He has plenty of fans of his own and gets tons of carrots just like April.
You don't see people hanging off the top of the giraffe deck when he walked over because people have to stand back a little bit.
He gets tons of love and attention - just not in the same way as April.
Allysa, she couldn't have been nicer
April the Giraffe
Baby Tajiri the Giraffe
She was so soft and friendly. Everyone said that she's a "weird" giraffe b/c giraffes aren't typically this comfortable around people
Her tongue is approximately 18" long...perfect for grabbing carrots (which she apparently helps herself to straight from the peelers before guests arrive
Four months old (as of 8/15) and approximately 8'6" and 350 pounds
Who needs Curious George when we have Curious Taj?
There were different rules for each giraffe. We were allowed to feed Oliver but not touch him.
Alyssa with April.
Looking for more carrots
Taj relaxing
I think she could eat carrots 24/7
Carrots, carrots and more carrots!
Starting the switching process. They use lettuce for training purposes (which is why the public is only allowed to feed them carrots)
Baby and mommy dutifully heading inside with dad looking on
Who wants lettuce? Come and get it!
April heading into relax and nosy Oliver peering out.
I love her different expressions
April inside the barn
Make sure you get my good side!
I suggested putting a height chart on the wall and marking it off for Tajiri. I'm sure they have way more important things to take care of but they thought it was a cute idea
Tajiri was also looking for carrots but we were not allowed to feed them to him. They want to encourage him to nurse and he won't if he fills up on carrots
Tajiri was begging people and mom
We were told not to trust what the child says regarding the carrot
He certainly was a determined little guy
Come on mom how can you tell your sweet boy no?? Arent i too cute for no? -Tajiri
I hope you enjoy it
Great pictures, he indeed looking happy and well cared for. Although I wonder how big is their normal habitat in the wilderness, is he able to walk kilometers a day or is he inside the fence all the time?
Greetings @ddot
@ddot thank you, the park has plan to boarden to the area in the near future
