These guys are playful and incredibly fast! So in order to get an action, breaching shot is somewhat an exciting opportunity to predict this animals behaviour/intentions.
Well, for me… it absolutely is a heap of fun. To be honest it is quite easy to do so, as long as you spend time simply watching them and their behaviour, which will assist you in predicting where to point the camera and when in an attempt to snap ’the shot’.
A nicely timed photo of a Dusky Dolphin breaching in front of our vessel in Patagonia.

This photo itself took me about 5 minutes of patiently waiting and observing before I began to understand and see the behavioural pattern these animals were displaying. THEN after snapping about 140 photos in the spam of 2 minutes I managed to get this shot…
Worth the wait and patience?
