Pretty in Pink

Can you see it. This is a Pacific Spotted Scorpionfish (Scorpaena plumieri) camouflaged amongst rocks. Scorpionfish are ambush predators, using camouflage to mask their presence before taking prey with a rapid gulp if its gets too close.

I shot this while on a dive trip to Melpalo, a very small group of islands of the west coast of Panama. I will be puttling a trip report together for this adventure very soon.

Wow nice beautyfull photo :D

Gorgeous place, very "other-worldly"! There's a fish who's pretty (deadly) in pink. He's interesting. Not sure why they called it a scorpion fish; it's tail seems pretty fishy, not like a stinger. Not easy to spot - nice work!

I still can't find it and I can imagine how much time it will cost you to capture this amazing picture. a thumbs up and a resteem for your hard work and dedication @scottdphoto

I think this is the fish :D

This is insane! I do not know how in the heck you ever saw this! Great eye🧐

hehe we dont know yet if thats the fish!

that is the fish, yes. It is an easy spot. Stone fish and scorpion fish are something you learn to see when wading, snorkelling and diving in Northern Australia, last thing you want to do is to tread on, or put you hand on, one and cop a lot of very venomous spines.

Hahaha! When I first looked at it I thought there were two fish instead of just one. Nature is crazy right? Ninja fish...

Yes it is!❤️

Me voy porque es ese, y si no lo es, pues es el mejor camuflaje que he visto en el mundo natural, genial!

Merecido que lo tiene, excelente trabajo!

Beautiful!

disguise 80lvl

they have the ability to hide well on the rocks, it took me a loooooong lok to see it, this was a great adventure under the sea

The reef-dwelling fish is great at camouflage.

By the colorful and design to attract smaller fish and crustaceans and swallow fully in one moment gulp.

I did not kill michel jackson. I am an anestesia technician :)

King of camouflage, cannot be spotted at all if not looked closely. Amazing!

What camera did you use?
I can see the fish, When i was a kid my brother owned 5 pet stores. WE used to go to Big Pine Key one a month to dive for fish and gather crushed shell and coral for the tanks.

I think I started going with them when I was about 12. I saw a lot of really cool species but only in the store, where they were shipped in did I ever see one of these. Like a Chameleon they can blend with the background.

This photo really brought back some memories. Thank you for sharing.
I look forward to seeing the rest of your dive pictures.

Great job, man. It was really hard to find a fish hehe. This shows how to be on right place at right time.

Crypsis wizard!

Looking forward to this travel report and your other diving photos

sweet shots

this photography is very nice.Pacific spotted scorpionfish (Scorpaena mystes) is a fish species found in shallow water and seaweed-covered reefs as well as on open, sandy areas between 1 and 85 m depth. An opportunistic predator, this cryptic fish lies unseen on the reef top waiting for small fishes to pass by. Although the flesh is of excellent quality,

And venomous spines to top things off...

I barely can see the fish haha, great pictures :)

You can not find the spotted scorpion. Hahaha.

But excellent photos.

Awasome .....
Good photo, thanks for sharing

It's hard to tell the difference, only those who are shrewd to see it, I personally in every post you are innovated.

No way,I can't see it.....

oh wow beautiful photos of something could take most of us out. Thank you @scottdphoto

I think I can see it but it's really hard to tell. Is it in the middle, about a third of the width of the photo?

, using rapid gulp if its gets too close.

This part sounds like some ladies i have known lol

Great shot... Eagle eyes!!!

That's amazing camouflage. Took me a few moments to see it.

Is this the fish scott?

P.S: Those islands look fantastic. I'm really looking forward your trip report. Also, stay safe!

Thanks for the free viewing 🤣🤣

Nice short you must be really good to get a shot like this although it's all pink trying to find the fish. Nice job tho

Awesome Photography It is looking great. Pacific spotted scorpionfish is a fish species found in shallow water. You really have done amazing post and I love it. Keep it up , I have upvoted you and following u

Beautiful fish!!!

wso pink ..huh nice post

Okey whaaatt !? I would even thing the rock in front of the island would be the thing you were trying to show us! Love how you did manage to show natures ways to keep fooling us! props

t.

une belle photo

I really do not see where the fish is! I'm a little blind, the camouflage is more effective with me! Did you use any diving equipment? Very good photos.

I noticed the scorpionfish right away but just because I know how that it has sharp spines with venomous mucus, sop it is dangerous fish. Very interesting fish, I would say, very smart fish.

I love having experiences with nature like this! I went swimming in the North East of Tasmania recently and we were visited by some beautiful fish and a big-ass stingray. For someone who gets nervous swimming in the ocean it left a pretty big impression, and some nice stories.

Hi @scottdphoto, The first your photo looks hard to find, and I really see the wonderful results. Thanks for share and I like that

Not seen it without help

Awesome photos!

wonderful landscape

Very nice photos

And I fish never found )) in the first photo ))

I tried figuring it out, but man, there's nothing there actually...the whole thing is the rock!

Awesome pictures! Can't wait to see more!
