Hello @juliank, @photocontests and Steem friends,
Here is my entry in the animal photography category... I'm not sure if birds of prey qualify. I hope you like it anyway : ) A Great Horned Owl is a reclusive, majestic bird and this one was so expertly camouflaged it took a good deal of teasing him out in post processing. If not for the amazing censor in the camera, we would have a hard time seeing him at all!

Incredible shot! It's amazing how sharp it is considering the shutter speed combined with 550mm! How'd you pull that off?
You've been featured by @photofeed!
Wow! Thanks for featuring my image! : ) I was on a tripod and wearing dark clothing to blend in to my surroundings... The most difficult part was finding him in the trees. I was hoping to get him flying out to hunt. But this GHO wasn't going anywhere. Once I spotted him I took a couple dozen photos. Many of them went straight into the trash bin! I will write a before and after post to show how Lightroom helped. Thanks again!
Wow amazing phot
Thank you pavaloactico : )
WOW that's inspiring work!
Thank you @jared55. I watched this GHO for hours. And I think he watched me watching him : )
beautiful photo. I love the intense gaze of the Owl
Thank you @milbreit-photo. I wasn't sure of what I was recording. Was surprised to see in post processing that it seemed like he was looking right through me.
Amazing shot!!
Thank you @asgarth. It was a lucky day... sometimes when you go into the woods with all of your equipment the wildlife is busy doing other things than posing for a portrait : )
Amazing photo, its so well camouflaged in the trees, awesome shot!
Thank you @vtravels. It's true - he was barely visible at all... I had to trade-off high ISO and slow shutter speed for the chance to get this image. Many of the outtakes hit the cutting floor!
Well it certainly paid off! It looks awesome!
Thank you : ) Love your posts today for landscape and cityscape... I love London! You've inspired me to dust off that visit! Haven't been to the Lake District... my location list is growing exponentially - lol
Thank you so much! Would love to see some from you from London! The Lake District is a must, especially if you are into photography, you will be in awe!!
We just spot your page.
Amazing work!
See you for sure in next posts!
