Young Southern Right Whale
It was a rather stressful encounter. One of the other cage diving boats gave us a signal, that there was a young Southern Right Whale in distress.... It turned out that he just had a fun time, tolling around at the surface.

What a worry approaching thinking this beautiful animal was in distress, to find out it was frolicking in the sea a much better ending to witness @mjphoto

Will do, cheers mate and thanks for the invite!
Love this. Were you in the water at the time? And was the whale alone?
Thx a lot! I was on a research vassel at that time, tagging sharks. We got the call from one of the dozen cage diving boats that work around Seal Island.
That's cool. Do you spend a lot of time on research vessels?
If i get the opportunity. Luckily my gf is a marine biologist, so that hrlps in that endeavour. How about you, ever been on a research vessel?
No never been on one !
oh god, what a dramatic experience, I would have died of fear
It is a lot more thrilling than terrifying even if you are scared in the beginning, the sensational discovery of earths beauty will eridcate any fear and will only leave wonder.
Great capture!
Look at all that Baleen! Very cool detail captured.
I have seen a few Right Whales, but they are so endangered, ahven't been able to get close enough.
Most of the whales I see are Humpback, Fin Back, and Right Whales.
