Sparrows are Beautiful, But Become Pests for Rice Farmers

Two sparrows shelter in tree branches in rice fields in Aceh Besar District. Small birds that usually live this bunch is a pest for farmers' rice crops. These animals eat young rice, so farmers can experience crop failures if these birds come in groups and eat rice in the fields.

Some farmers usually feed the net over their rice crops to prevent this bird from entering the fields. There are even farmers who must all day keep the rice plants from this sparrow pest attack.
