Here are some pictures which I took in the Ozeaneum aquarium in Stralsund, Germany.
If you ever visit the north east part of germany, you need to vist this stunning museum! There are a lot of different themed aquariums, like a Baltic Sea inspired one, or a North Sea and North Atlantic aquarium. They even have penguins in a reserve on top of the building.
These pictures were taken in the Ozeaneum and the Mainbuildung of the German Oceanographic Museum in Stralsund. The German Oceanographic Museum has four locations: the Ozeaneum which is the biggest, the main buildung inside a monastery (both in Stralsund), a small outpost on the peninsula of Fischland-Darß-Zingst and another outpost on the island of Dänholm.
Check out their website if you want more information about them. The museum also works together with Greenpeace and hosts a very impressive exhibition called 'Giants of the seas' in cooperation with Greenpeace. At the moment they are also rebuilding their largest aquarium, nevertheless it's definitely worth a trip (back in 2010 it was the European museum of the year)!
Aurelia aurita, also called common jellyfish (Baltic Sea).
If you ever get the chance to visit the German part of the Baltic Sea, you should also vist the small outpost of the museum on Fischland-Darß-Zingst, it's such a beatiful place, with a sometimes like untouched nature. The museum is in the northwestern part of the island, which is the most beatiful part in my opinion. A big part of the island is also part of the Western Pomerania Lagoon Area National Park.
