One of my dear Steemit friends @lyndsaybowes, homesteader extraordinaire, once had a chicken naming contest that I just missed out on. Every time I saw her post with chickens milling around, I reminded her that she really ought to hold another contest.
My kooky friend prefaced her new chicken naming contest with...
Okay back by popular demand... Actually only one person asked to name a chick again hahaha!! So here we are, by (not-so-popular) demand of @karencarrens to have another chick naming contest.
My guess is she either ran out of blog ideas or just wanted me off her back! 🤣 At this point, my soon to be godchicken was simply known as the letter E, as he was the 5th chicken to be named.
Apparently, the family deliberations with the kids were heated. According to @lyndsaybowes,
The Bowes Family fought and argued all evening over these choices!
I have a feeling that it would have been hilarious to witness deliberations.
The Young Peter Parker
He has a name!

Needless to say, my desire to name a critter was satiated and I ended up with my own godchicken... I missed out on Pick that Chick -Season 3.
The Role of a Godparent
A handful of us became godmothers and godfathers to some rockin' fowl. I ended up with my sweet boy... Peter Parker.
I get heartwarming notes like...
your lil godchicken Parker is sending you tiny chicken hugs! xooxoox And a peck!
I love seeing updates on him, such as...
"Peter Parker" is still growing in feathers, he's gonna be one colourful Roo!...
Peter Parker (AKA Spiderman, named by @karencarrens) judging me, as always...
And now he's a full-fledged rooster... king of the henhouse. As his godmother, I feel it's my duty to show him off to all of you. 🤣🤣🤣
Peter Parker Today

Final Thoughts
I adore Peter Parker's momma. She is seriously one of the most transparent, raw, and loving ladies on this blockchain. Her heart is so big and her smile infectious. And, she's willing to share both with you. So, if enjoy homesteading, animals, raising kids, or taking walks, you'll adore @lyndsaybowes.
Who knows? Maybe Pick that Chick Season 4 could be just around the corner! (hint, hint, nudge, nudge)

My dear Steemian,
Each interaction with you means the world to me. I may not always verbalize it. In fact, @lyndsaybowes probably didn't know how much I pay attention to her blogs, that I stalk her online 🤣 .... and not just the posts that give me updates on my godchicken. 🐓 So, for now, just know that you are greatly appreciated and loved!

Awwww back! LOL. We're such sentimental dorks.
And I wouldn't have it any other way <3
Aw, I didn't realize Peter Parker was your godchicken! Mine are Ozzy and Jimmy! Godchickens are the closest my apartment-dwelling self can get right now to having chickens of my own! 😁
@phoenixwren, OMG... I'm cracking up... When @lyndsaybowes shares pics of Ozzy and Jimmy next time, I'll definitely take notice. That's so cool you have 2 of them. It may be time for me to see about naming another one so that Peter Parker can have a godbrother or godsister.
When my second name was chosen, @lyndsaybowes said I was "stacking godchickens like cryptos," lol! 😂
LOL!!!!! YASSSS!! Round 4 has to happen and we'll see who's stakin the most!!
It's On! 😂

@karencarrens nice article.
Thank you!
Living in a city i am missing out on a lot things perhaps. Even though the place that i am living in is not a big city but a small town. Still there is no way i could keep livestock on my property. I always wanted to keep some chicken and goats. Unable to keep because of neighbors. They usually object to all this. I remember 3 years back one of my neighbor had some goats, chickens and turkeys. The other neighbor would always object and pick fights with him on this. He got fed up and sold all of them. This objections were happening even though he had kept his livestock in his backyard.
Clearly most people living in cities live a materialistic life in their concrete jungle.
I hear you! I know there are probably a lot of people living in cities that would love to keep chickens and other animals. Fresh eggs!
Congrats on your handsome godchicken. I stalk @lyndsaybowes , too :-) Looking forward to Round 4!!
@mirella, thank you! I'm partial to my boy! @lyndsaybowes is definitely hilarious. We'll all have to participate in round 4!
So totally cute!! He's adorable!! What a great name!
He's a major stud now. BTW, it was great to have you and your husband on the show tonight!)))))))
It was great being on the show!! Thanks so much for having us!
I love chickens!! There is a great site about a lady that keeps pet chickens, and she named her indoor chicken 'choomba' after the Roomba that vacuums, because her chicken picks up any scraps on the floor. She also equips this chicken with a diaper to catch poop AND eggs! Yep. My husband would KILL me!
That's hilarious @thehoneys! So apropos! Hope to see you and Jaime tonight!
I am vegetarian since I was 8 years and I love hens, some can be very smart. I would love to have a couple of hens as pets so the eggs I would eat would be exchanged for love, sometimes you have to give for what you receive.
I know!!! Wouldn't it be great to have fresh eggs anytime?! I love fresh eggs! When I get a chance, I pick them up from my mother-in-law's place. She's a 30-minute drive away from us but she's got a bunch of chickens. They really are great animals to have.
I think one of the hens would be named Camila hahaha like Gonzo the Muppet´s friend. :) Having a godchicken sounds sweet. I'm sure mine would end up inside the house hahaha spoiled as beloved pets
@yidneth, you definitely need to join the next Pick that Chick contest! Who knows, maybe you'll end up with a godchicken too!
Great heroic chicken...lol! You really got the right words @karencarrens ...lovely post!
Thanks @sparklez! He is a great bird! Very much loved. hehe. It was so great to hear from you tonight! :)
So heartwarming to learn of this kind of treatment of chickens. How lucky can a chicken be? I wonder if Peter Parker knows how lucky he is. @lindsaybowes is such an inspiration to the rest of us humanity.
You know, @gabbingster, I have a feeling that Peter Parker knows he's loved! And, he also clearly loves his humans. He lets them hold him. It's really cute.
So good to know this. Showing our Love to animals is such a vital thing.
Gosh how good can it get. I have so many questions. The funny thing is the moment I saw that post, this post and Mr. Peter Parker popped in my mind.
I am going to take my time and formulate some questions and make use of this opportunity. Just thought I should let you know. Right now I am in the middle of formulating a question/questions a fellow steemian @whitedolphin has asked in her post. She is an amazing animal communicator. I just stumbled upon her post where she is asking the readers to ask any question from a wild or domesticated animal .
I compared photos, with a young Peter Parker and Peter Parker today! What's different, he's so grown up and prettier!!!
I know! I was shocked to see how colorful he became as an adult! He's been splashed with sunbeams. 😍
Yay Peter Parker! I love all of Lyndsays chickens, and the Bowes too, whats not to love about that clan.
I have yet to name one of hers though, wasn't on Steemit at the time, perhaps this spring I will get in on the name game though!
I have my own chickens but none of them have such awesome hair-do's...
@amymya, oooh!!! Have you named your chickens? I have a feeling that there's going to be a Season 4 soon. And, yes, very inspirational clan!
Oh yes, I've got Purple, Queenie, Tiny, Leeloo, Loola aka Corbin Dallis, Goldie, Copper, Stripe, Scully, Rosie2, Broody Dalle, Wilbur and Rainbow Soldier :D
Peter parker looked cute since his young days, no wonder the ladies love him 😎😎
@amateurphotoguy, he was a cutie... now he's a stud! LOL Thanks for your fun comment. hehe
That's awesome lol. I use to have a pet chicken. Poor thing knew to hide from me cuz I would carry him around everywhere. Nice work on co- hosting. :)
OMG @dreamingirwin, you crack me up! I can totally see him running away from you! 🤣🤣🤣
This is just really cute. Our chickens are named Aunt Debbie (after my wife’s aunt of course, but she actually thought she was a rooster so we had to rehome her. The chicken that is, not the Aunt :), Jersey Jo (aka Jo-Jo), Goldie, and Penny Pickles. Can you guess which on my kids named?
@cstrimel, love it! That's so funny... not the Aunt. hehe. As a kid, I named my teddy bear, Teddy. My niece named her stuffed giraffe, Giraffy... so hopefully, your kids were more creative. I'm hoping they picked Penny Pickles! Unless, they are like me and my niece and named a gold chicken, Goldie. 🤣
Bingo! (Penny Pickles). And yes, of course we named the gold chick Goldie, and then she grew up to be brown.
