Giraffes (Zarafah) are mammals that have endemic African nails and are the highest animal species that live on land. In addition, there are quite a lot of fundamental differences in this mammal with other mammals or even with other animals.

The giraffe is famous for its long neck and leather-patterned motif. Giraffes have large eyes, long tongues, large ears and frayed tails. The height of the giraffe can reach 6 m and the newly born baby giraffe, the height has reached 1.8 meters which means higher than most mature humans.
Uniquely the long neck actually consists of only 7 vertebrae (neck bone) . The number of vertebrae of the giraffe's neck is actually the same as any other mammal just the size of each segment is much longer. Giraffes are animals that sleep very short.

Noted, giraffes only sleep about 10 minutes to two hours per night. Not only have a very short sleep time even giraffes can also sleep with standing. And they are also able to give birth while standing which means that giraffes very rarely lie down. 10 hours after birth, the giraffe's son is able to walk. It's amazing is not it?

Most giraffes live in East Africa or in Angola and Zambia in Southwest Africa . Until the mid-20th century giraffe is also still widely found in West Africa, south of the Sahara Desert. In the past, a group of giraffes with members of more than 100 tails were commonly found in savanna regions around the world, but now giraffe concentrations can only be found in East Africa, especially in Serengeti National Park, Tanzania.

Giraffe's behavior can rest stand up, but they usually lie down with their legs folded under the body. The neck stays upright, except for a few moments when sleeping for a while, usually about five minutes, his head resting on top of his butt. When walking the giraffe swung two legs on the same side at almost the same time. When running, both hind legs swung forward almost simultaneously, and both hind legs were placed on the outside of both front legs. Giraffes usually run at speeds of 16 km / h, but in conditions of fear giraffes can run up to 56 km / hr.
In a state of urgency, the giraffe uses his legs that have large nails as a weapon to repel predators. The kick of a giraffe is known to make a lion disabled.
Giraffes form scattered herds. Giraffes are gregarious animals, each individual joining together into a free group for protection against predators.
Adult male giraffes do not control a particular (non-territorial) region. Giraffes live peacefully side by side with overlapping areas. Each individual is aware of the relative status of each in the herd so as to minimize the attack.
Young male giraffes determine the status of who is more powerful with the ritual of neck competition. Two competing giraffes will cross their necks to each other, then both are involved in a neck race by pushing each other toward the opposite side, like a human panco fight. Sometimes they also hit each other with the neck and head.
