Several years ago, I had this idea to use mobile phones on a shared network in order to create a playing cards environment, virtual playing cards. How hard could it be? There are only a dozen or so actions involved in playing cards, like shuffle, deal, turn over cards etc. Well it turn out to be quite tricky to make.
We started our project in Android OS, thinking that once we got it working there and everyone loves it, then we can move on to the iOS so that everyone could play. Well, we still aren´t in iOS yet although we have made a pretty good first attempt in Android.
Turns out that there is a lot to emulating card playing. There are many, what we ended up called´zones´, like a players hand, the deal, the table center, the table in front of each player and so on. There are also a lot of actions, like transitioning cards to the table and to other players, organizing cards, putting cards in stacks and patterns etc. The job of creating a realistic card playing environment can big in a hurry.
Anyway, we are still working on it, but we need feed back so check our our utility and let us know what you think: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.intrahouse.deck2play&hl=en
Why doesn´t anybody seem to care about virtual playing cards? no offense to the 7 votes this articles gotten so far ;D
