Thanks for this great article! Even before the Internet age, I found I learnt more from my local library whete I could learn about whatever subject I wanted than what was taught at school. But yes, internet definitely makes it easier. With my own son going through his 'why' phase - answers are only a search away, and I'm learning a ton in the process of answering all his whys!
