I've been busy here in NY. I put a lot of work in helping my mom out. That's pretty much wrapped up now and I find myself looking for a job so I can pay off debt. It was thus appropriate that I discovered a TEDx talk by Tiberus Brastaviceanu about open value networks.
Towards the end of the talk, he gives his take on why traditional jobs don't make sense anymore and the benefit of open value networks:
I am looking around and I see millions of young men and women wasting their brains looking for salvation, looking for a job. And I want to tell these people, stop looking for a job and start working now, today, because you don't need permission to create value. Our society is wasting talent on a massive scale because economic activity is walled in. Now these barriers to value creation were created in an old world where they probably made sense, but the new digital technologies change the economic landscape and make these barriers obsolete.
To me, this is one of the major problems of our time. Finding ways to make a living from contributions to the commons the norm and not a rare occurrence.
