Macro Photography | Using Light in Macro Photography

in #amazing7 years ago

The information up to here is theoretically 100% learned and 60-70% photograph taken on the scene. But as light systems are a bit of experience, I will try to keep it as simple and simple as possible.

If we were going to list the biggest problems in the macro, the light would come first. It is easy to get around ISO2000 with the developing technology, but knowing to use external light as well as sharpness, instant freezing, support light is one of the difficulties of macro shooting. BUT and BUT you can learn to use it for experimentation, to draw light systems, to use the scene. Because the information you can use theoretically does not add anything to your support when it comes to the scene.

1- Pop-up Flashes
Yes we can modify the tiny flashes on the machines so that they fall in front of the lens. Remember, the quality and color of the materials you will use as diffuser (ie softener); light quality, light cut-off values, and light color. My experience is that the best light softener paper towels I have found to deal with every macro in the direction of the line. We can use it as a single layer paper towel.

PLUSES

No extra cost
TTL operation
CONS

Filling speed is slow
Inadequate power

2-Top (External) Flashes
It is also possible to use these flashes which are used on the machines with various modifications so that the light quality of a top flash can not change to anything as Canon has used both MT24Exini and MR14Exini. Besides that, unlike ring and twin flashes, we can use it comfortably in other shootings, always pushing me to the top flash

PLUSES

Light support in TTL and even HSS modes!
Be comfortable with light modifiying
High quality of modifying light
Fast stuffing
CONS

Increase device weight too much
Not suitable for every frame according to the designed softbox
It looks a bit rude until you get used to it.

3- Ring Flashes and Twin Flashes
Ring flashes and twin flashes are well-made flashes for detail photographers. But come on, we do not have a crime scene review, so we need a soft light, not a harsh light, so let's create something artistic. Okay, there is no flash for a ring flash or twin flash, it's supposed to soften these lights when you get into art. The problem here is that you need to use a careful softener so that it will not enter your frame, it will not touch the objects, it will be portable, and it will provide enough diffusions. It is difficult but not impossible =) But after you are accustomed to the top flashes and see the light quality there, these systems have 2 advantages.

PLUSES

Stable operation of the TTL system since they are specially designed for macro and detail
AF assist lamps and comfortable operation in narrow area
CONS

The prices are very high. (Instead of 1 MT24ex, you can take 4 top flashes and jam, for example 😀)
Narrow devices need to be used with caution.

Wow, these shots are incredible! So much detail. And the animals are insanely intricate as well, fascinating stuff my friend.
