When playing the theremin the operator controls the volume and pitch with their hand position relative to two antennas BUT with this one instead of an antenna they use a photocell a.k.a photo-resistor. The resistance of the photocell is determined by its exposure to light so usually it is like an x and y axis that you play on but with this one it is just the amount of light. Both are really neat!
