Am4 vs Am5 Builds

I thought AM5 was not worth it until recently, with prices coming down for motherboards and RAM. Like half of my hardware was bought used. Also, I only have 7900/7900X for AM5 due to the price factor. AM4 is dirt cheap to build right now, but efficiency is kind of bad. Top-end CPUs also lose most resell value. AM4 is going to be a lot more economical if budget is a concern. However, for mining, I would recommend the 5950X if you are going AM4. CPUs you can pick up used on eBay, and as long as they were not abused (bent pins), they are pretty much bulletproof. As far as motherboards, for me, I am a huge ASUS fan. Although Gigabyte and MSI have some pretty good boards as well. Going a bit higher end with AM5, I would look at the 7950X and 7950X3D. The 9950X just came out, and the 3D version is soon to be released, which should push down the 7950 series a bit. AM4 uses DDR4 RAM, so it is a bit cheaper to build. AM5 is using DDR5, so the price goes up a bit. Anyway you go, I would recommend a 16-core CPU for mining. If you are starting fresh, I would try to get AM5. I am not building anymore AM4. I am upgrading everything AM4 I have, but I will only build AM5 now.
