I am using this wallet now and it is synchronizing, make sure you download the block-chain file to speed up the process.
Incase of "0 Connections" you might have to open a port on your router for the Wallet to sync. In my case, yesterday it was not connecting and was too lazy to access the router. Today I tried again and it connected without opening any ports, I don't know if it is related to today release date (Jan 8th) or I am just lucky, but it is working well.
