With the weather being so cold these past few weeks, Forgotten Harvest has canceled it's local Thursdays distribution. But last night I saw they were not canceled. I got up and wiped the snow off the car and got to the location.
Forgotten Harvest is a food recovery program, where restaurants and grocery stores will donate their extra inventory to be donated to the community. Also fruits and vegetables that are grown and funded by the organization. These are all foods that would otherwise be disposed of - much better disposed of in the bellies of local residents!
I got there a bit late, but it meant I only had to wait about an hour, which is better than the 3 hour wait I've done before. I'm picking up for two families, my own and my wife's sister's family. We divide up the produce and I drove it to their home.
It's a blessing for our family and really helps our food budget a lot.

Teach Your Children Liberty from Sin
We encourage parents to teach their children principles of Godliness, beginning with the Word and an understanding who God is and what His Son has done to form a relationship with us.
No one can lay a foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or straw, his workmanship will be evident, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will prove the quality of each man’s work. 1 Corinthians 3:11-13
Teach Your children Liberty from Tyranny
Second to this is the principle of self-determination and freedom, lest we loose the ability to teach our children the first principle in future generations.
Our children read the Tuttle Twin books, specifically to learn libertarian principles, which most people learn later in life. These books are useful for our family, and yours, to teach children concepts that seem complicated, but are made simple in these books.
I am an affiliate for Libertas Publishing, your purchase will help our family grow financially.

I went with my sister to the food bank, they always let us both pick up, but this time.

I'm already thinking about restarting my garden this spring. I'll likely start some things for transplant in the first week of February.

It's so cold and snowy right now, getting an early case of the spring itch. !BBH

That's a really cool program! I'm sure it's a blessing to many of the families who receive the food. I can imagine it does help out the food budget!
It realy does help a lot. And the food is good quality, mostly fruits and vegitables. Today we got 4 gallons of milk, the way our children drink milk, it's a huge blessing! !BBH

How often do they do this distribution? Every day?
Everyday, but at this location it's every Thursday. With the extreme cold weather it's been canceled all month. !BBH

All of us people have to buy every one of the necessities of life to live a good life.
Yes, the generosity of charity helps also. !BBH

Forgotten harvest is a great initiative that I hope will be done anywhere. Lots of people get hungry while there are some spare food that will just be thrown away.

It's a very good program. !BBH

It's so lovely when restaurants and grocery shops actually donate the extra supply instead of just throwing it away. This is literally one step towards solving world hunger . . . to stop wasting.

I really despise waste. I know there will alway be waste, but anything not wasted is a good think. !BBH
