Trying out the Akasha beta

in #akasha7 years ago

Yesterday I finally got the Akasha app running (install glibcxx-something.3-4). Akasha is sort of a Ethereum version of Steemit with a lot of technical differences. For the end user the most important is probably that it does not run is a browser, but in an app.

The interface is actually quite good - I like that you can design your own pages - it would be a grand thing for me if I could have groups of profiles I followed, like for example the comic-community. As it is now Everything is just grouped into one big soup.

The writing tools are less flexible (as far as I can see at least). I really like sites where you can format in Markdown, making a personalised and fine looking post. Akasha has for the time being a modern text tool that does what it is supposed to do, but not much flexibility.

I am trying to understand wow things work under the hood (I don't even know if this is working tokens or just test-tokens) and I am trying to understand the strange cycle between mana -> essense -> Aeth, but I did not quite grasp Steemit's SBD, Steem and vests right away either so I suppose that is just a question of time.

I did try the cumbersome Alpha and the team behind Akasha has done a great job improving and rewriting - I do think this could be a competitor to Steemit in time. Question is how many social media platforms I can cope with at one time.

Sort:

This is the first I'm hearing about Akasha, but it seems like something I might want to participate in. I signed up for the beta, so hopefully I will be able to check it out soon enough.

Cool, I am katharsisdrill in Akasha too. I was participating in the alpha test so I got invited a few days ago.

Ahhh ... looks more facebooky / twitterish than steemit.

I think it's important to have a real dezentralized Social Network. Steemit - in my opinion - is more a Medium-competitor.

Yes, maybe it does. I am not sure what it looks like, but you are right about Steemit being more a blogging platform than a social network. It would be great if Akasha could fill out another function.

Wow
Akasha sounds really fun... Definitely trying it out...
And I think you can cope with many social medias although some would take more time.
But I'm sure there are some not that important to you tho

A very good information, this is very useful for the crowd. Thank you for sharing this very valuable information and hopefully you will be more successful for the future @katharsisdrill
