Hello Steemians,
CHARITY IS GOOD BUT IT COULD EXPOSE YOU TO THE ILLS OF THE SOCIETY!
Do you know why I always engage myself in all these charitable causes? Its simply because I have seen the fickleness of life first hand. I know the gravity of life because I have seen death in the eyes of many that died of different kinds of illnesses. I know how it feels. Trust me! Its not a good feeling at all.
With this sort of drive, I always seek to reach-out. If I see anywhere I can help, I will be the last person to ever deny the person such help. Even though I do this, I must confess that real charity feels good and bad as well.
My stay in Uyo has been fun as well as touching. I went to touch people's lives today in a motherless babies' home but I can tell you that mine was touched in the process. You know what the 3rd law of Newton says "Action & Reaction Are Equal & Opposite".
It was a moment of sober reflection as the realities on ground hit all of us hard. You may live a life complaining about the little things that you don't have but there are alot of persons who don't even know that such exists talk less of complaining.
For example many steemians complain about low upvotes and all what-not. But in reality they are in a platform where impossible has become nothing. Meanwhile some of their mates are wasting away on Facebook earning Zero for the beautiful works they do. It doesn't matter what you think you don't have just be thankful for the little and more will be added unto you.
Today, we saw kids without legs that can never wear shoes. We saw deformed kids that can never be able to grow with enough mental acumen to get rewarded with proof of brain. We saw some that made tears roll down eyes.
We look sad, don't we?
Apart from deformities, we also saw happiness-in-misery. Some of the kids danced while we played music from our devices. They were happy with the little they had. Why not us all? We gave them biscuits and soft drinks and they sang and danced like they had a lambo.
Alas! They still lived in an enclosure like prisoners. They don't have formal education. They don't have a formal life. No parents. Dirty caretakers. Inadequate feeding. No television. No exposure to the outside world. All they see is four walls.
I tell you friends, the next time you see your parents please give them a very good hug for my sake. The next time you look at your legs, appreciate it. The next time you see your "little" earnings on Steemit, appreciate it like it was all you had. What you have is a life that many of those kids only dream about.
Hmmm! I think I'm exaggerating. What are dreams? You can only dream about something when you have some experiences of it. Otherwise your imagination has to be super-good. But you will agree with me that even imagination is a product of experience. Now those kids are growing up in an enclosure how are they supposed to develop powerful imaginations? How can they think outside that box?
The government don't care. If you ask them they will tell you that they built an orphanage home for everyone to use. SMH! What about the quality of life in such homes? Or are we just taking away the substance of the human from the human himself?
They rehabilitated the building but not the people...
I know those caretakers will syphon the money and gifts. I know that they are only using those children like circus monkeys who dance for the audience and make money for the masters. I know that many of those kids may never have a life as good as their mates in good families.
But I leave everything in the hands of God & man. Do what you can to help while I also do what I can to help and our world could just be a better place.
ABOUT "FETCH"
FEed The CHild is a charity initiative started by @alisonudeme, @giftessiet and @bundis10 aimed at reaching out to kids in orphanages and supplying them with things for sustainance. I'm glad I was opportuned to be in Uyo City after my own charity event with #ACOF ( Air-Clinic Outreach Foundation).
I was there live with the already mentioned organizers @ejemai, @samstickkz, @annieben, @elizabethscarlet, @evelyniroh, @enoye, @thatibomchick etcz. We all had that moody self-relective tone after the event. It was like a retreat.
Me & one of the brains behind FETCH. @Alisonudeme - Little girl with big dreams
Just glad we could touch some lives with our Steemoney.
So what are you still waiting for before you touch someone's life today? Really!
