Watch What You Eat!

in #air-clinic6 years ago (edited)

Hello Air-Clinicians and Friends!

There's a belief that runs back to the biblical era that what defiles a man is determined by what enters his mouth. Yes! Indeed there's some logic in that even though Jesus tried to disprove it with a spiritual interpretation.

Now let's look at it this way. You can't eat poison and expecting it not to harm your systems. In truth, many of the things we eat on a daily basis can be seen as poison when looked at much more critically.

Sometimes poison can be very sweet. We eat and drink these things and we see them as enjoyment. We think we are doing good. No wonder many have died suddenly with apparently no ailment. Some things kill you silently.

The following popular foods and fruits could be dangerous:

  • Raw cashew nuts
  • Apple seeds
  • Cassava leaves or bitter cassava
  • Tomato leaves or green tomatoes
  • Potato leaves or stem or sprout or green potatoes
  • Raw honey (ie unpasteurized honey)
  • Bitter almonds
  • Large quantities of nutmeg (ie 1 whole seed)
  • Tinned or canned foods in general
  • Artificial and industrial sugars
  • Mushrooms (many species are poisonous)
  • Groundnuts (for those with peanut allergies)
  • Tuna fish (high content of Mercury)
  • Raw meat and uncooked eggs
  • And lots more...

So next time you want to gulp one of these please do ask yourself avital question:

Have I taken all the necessary precaution to make sure that this is healthy? If yes! Please do enjoy your meals. Generally stay away from fruit seeds, unknown leaves and foods.

nice post....thanks for your helpful post...loves @air-clinic .. i am surprised that to know green tomato is dangerous

Yes it is. Just like it's leaf too. It's funny how edible things can be dangerous when eaten in another way.

But many people used green tomato as a vegetables....it is safe or dangerous ?

Eat the ripe red ones only. They contain lycopene which is good for your heart.
On the other hand the green ones contain tomatine which is harmful especially in large quantities.

Okk thanks friend...

An opener. I hope to stop chewing pawpaw seeds and water melon seeds. I wouldnt know if they are dangerous too. Thanks for sharing @airclinic

Yeah! Just like apple seeds they are not meant to be eaten.

Can you imagine? I have always eaten and loved it

Did you notice that it's bitter? Those are the toxins. Pls stop!

hey guys @air-clinic, am a bit confused because i heard cassava leaves are eaten as vegetable in some countries. Is this safe?

Cassava leaves contains high concentration of cyanide.
To minimize the probability of harm, the leaves have to be cooked properly and the water discarded.
The best bet is to avoid eating it entirely.

Even people from skme part of Edo state, Nigeria blend it and use it to mske black soup

Sounds like a really dangerous soup then.

Nice post guys
May God save us from hazardous contents we eat in the name of food. up till today people still cook from pots made alluminum and not steel pot and take in toxins that are detrimental to one's health....
It will surely #change one day.

Yes. That's another health hazard sadly.

Try and make a post on how to see the food label for Optimum Nutrition and preventing food consumption related diseases.

Sure! We will try.

Awesome.

It's too much informative.
