This was a very informative well written post. I would like to make the following comments. Driverless cars are inevitable unless the auto industry puts money in to PACs which could encourage laws to prevent their deployment. I disagree with your statement that the auto industry will be devastated. Auto manufacturerswilll simply shift their focus to driverless cars. Movie theaters are still thriving despite the in-home video entertainment such as blu ray and streaming. Uber and lIft, and the taxi industries will simply have to adapt. It will take a good 50 years before the adoption of this new technology becomes commonplace. New technologies mean new jobs
