I PLANTED CASSAVA TODAY ......

I am Agricultural student of University of Ilorin and this is what i did today at the farm..
I planted cassava (Manihot esculenta)

Cassava is very important tuber crop that is produce in all tropical area of the world . its said to have originated from Latin America.
Botanical Name for cassava is Manihot esculenta it belongs to Family Euphobaiceae .
PLANT PRODUCT AND USES:ITS HAS being a major staple ,cassava is prime Soucer of starch, glue,syrup for both food and industrial process .

CASSAVA CAN BE PROCESSED INTO;
•Gari and farinhada mandicoa in Brazil
•Foofoo(fufu)meal of retted cassava
•Tapioca and Flour,Glues.
PROBLEMSS OF CASSAVA
•Low protein content
The prussic acid Content(Cyanogenic glucoside)
Prapid deterioration of freah tubers and Difficult in mechanization of planting and haversting.
