I feel tired. My mind is heavy on worry and wonder. I have been exposed to too much violence and death in the last few days. Now I can't stop switch off this reflective mode my soul has been on. On Sunday night, my hood echoed gunshots as tribalistic young people rioted over the supreme court's obvious decision to reinstate the former president Uhuru Kenyatta.
I have watched disturbing news of women being gang raped then dying in hospital beds. Watched young men being forced into their early graves by people who swore to protect and serve them, the police. I have cried over children's lives ended by straying bullets. Mothers crying over dead bodies scattered on chaotic roads or somewhere in an estate. Kenya smells like death till now.
It started when an election held in August was nullified... first ever to happen in Africa!
That lead to a controversial presidential re-election in October that saw the former president re-elected. This brought forth indescribable tension that lead to unpredictable violence. It was followed deadly crashes between demonstrators and Kenya Police then later by deaths of hundreds of innocent Kenyans.
This is a great shot but I can't help but feel sad by how much that flag speaks volumes on a dying nation.

I detest politics especially African politics... they leak of greed. Though major transformations are being witnessed in African politics today like former Zimbambwean President Mugabe finally resigning, Africa is yet mature politically.
Kenya is among the worst; Our government being among the most corrupt in the world. This has widened the gap between the poor and rich, services and consumers, farmers and their benefits etc. Then a survey taken recently (beginning of November) by World Internal Security ranked Kenyan Police and Police Index (WISPI) as the third worst police in the WORLD. Imagine that toxic blend.

IMO sometimes the best thing that you can do is switch off the TV. This stuff is just going to happen regardless. Better than being demoralised.
I am no longer watching the news but social media is still flooded with such! :(
Yeah that's true. I deleted Facebook a couple of years ago, haven't looked back. Hard to avoid some other sites though (especially steemit!).
Praying for you Black Queen and for the people of Kenya that this violence and injustice end soon. The people of the world are so tired of this needless violence and suffering so that the few can steal for themselves and their lawless, greedy cronies. My heart goes out to you today and I will continue to pray for Kenyans. I am resteeming your post. Upvoted for sure!!
