Awesome post!
I work with a nonprofit based on the island of Maui, Hawaii that offers Agricultural Training and Certification for the workplace. This organization primarily serves Single Mothers with/without children, Youth, and Veterans.
This type of education and skillset will change the world faster!
Thank you for raising awareness to the opportunities available!
Wow That is great work you are doing. So what is the perception of agriculture like in Maui. Do people embrace it like they do with other jobs?
Agriculture is very treasured on Maui and among the locals of the Hawaiian Islands in general. It seems like the local food markets have been trending upward in growth.
More vendors. Many more visitors.
Historically there has been a lot of push back from local residents against Monsanto's GMO experiments. To the locals it's about more than just GMOs and agriculture; it's about preserving Hawaiian culture. Just like in the battle over the Dakota Access pipeline, the disputes in Hawaii have reflected the tension between local environmental values and commercial forces.
