A Few Security Tips for the New Year Eve

in #africa7 years ago

Several persons would be living their homes tonight to mark the new year, either in religious places or in clubs and bars or other public places. The implication is that many homes will be left empty and the bad guys may exploit the loopholes.

Here are a few security tips you should observe if you will be leaving your home tonight.

Make sure all your doors and gates are properly locked.

Make sure your electric bulbs and other security lights are left on.

Do not create an impression that there is nobody at home.

If you leave in a flat, make sure all the doors to every room including the toilets and kitchen are locked and the keys are kept in a safe place. This will delay access should hoodlums find their way into your house.

If you own a dog and your house is fenced, make sure your dog is not chained. It could be your only bet, should hoodlums gain access to your home.

Do not forget to activate your car security should you be leaving it behind.

Leave your gadgets and other portable items in a safe haven at home; do not get carried away by the euphoria of the new year.

Do not return home in the wee hours of the night if you live in a secluded environment.

Remember, you are your own chief security officer. Good luck.
