Cry my beloved country…

in #africa7 years ago

It has really come to that, that point when people have actually started thinking a colonial Africa – Zimbabwe in particular - might have been better than what we have now. That point that makes you cry in your sleep.

Growing up in Zimbabwe, I had always imagined a future where we choose our leaders, from a basket of smart and committed to the people type of leaders. However, we have been reduced to accepting as leaders the bottom feeders, those that prey on others, those that have nothing to offer the world except vitriol and decay. But, why do the people accept this?

My problem is with us, the regular people. What are we waiting for - to get rid of these politicians and people of corrupt practices? There will not be a savior to get rid of these corrupt governments for us! Are we a people that cannot collectively come together to push for the rights and privileges that a lot of other people enjoy?

I firmly believe the solutions to our woes are with us - the people, and won’t come from the leaders – they are too busy plundering your wealth! “Every nation gets the government it deserves.” If you think you deserve better, then demand better, from yourself and from your leaders!

The revolutions of decades past need to be revived, for Africa, you need awakening.
