Great post! I recall learning that photography was at first seen as destructive to painters careers and was frowned upon at first. People though why would anyone want a painting if they can get a more accurate daguerreotype?
And wow! Las Meninas is incredible, I never knew of this painting. The detail is mind bending and awesome.
