Conflict is the absence of peace or lack of cooperation among the people living in a society or nation opposes or disagrees with another society or nation. Conflict means fight, to quarrel, disagreement as well as struggle, it is state of non agreement by a group of people who lives together ,this is turn makes it difficult for the people to achieve a set goal, conflict can be experienced when state and national levels, example of inter ethnic conflict in Nigeria were the urhobo and the iteskiri conflict in warri, delta state, kata/hausa conflict in kaduna state ife/modabeke conflict in ogun state, yoruba/hausa conflict e.t.c. Conclusively conflict can be said to be inter personal, inter ethnic or national misunderstanding.

Types of conflict
• Violent conflict : This type of conflict results when people are unable to resolve their differences peacefully with out the use of force. It leads to damage or destruction of lives and properties, example of violent conflict in Nigeria, civil war that took place between 1967-1970 it lasted of about three years, the odua people's Congress (opc) conflict, the warri crisis conflict .

• Non violent conflict : it does not involves the use of force, the disagreement is usually settled without the application of force, school debate, football competition, inter house sport and inter school competition.
