[Know this Know that] – Shing Mun Redoubt
Shing Mun Redoubt was the command HQ of Gin Drinker’s Line, a defensive line built to against the Japanese invasion of Hong Kong in 1941. There were lots of trenches connected together by paths, and named after the streets of London such as Oxford Street and Regent Street.
Ok. Let's go inside.
It was the Headquarter. It has toilets, meeting rooms, kitchen inside the HQ, but they’re all destroyed during the war ...
There's a small toilet in the left corner. It's just a small empty room, so I didn't take any photo...
Kitchen:
If you go deeper, you can find a lot of warning signs...
Some of the trenches are connected together, you can walk to another one...
Here you are, the other entrance of the trench:
"Shaftesbury Avenue" - a major street in the West End of London...
From the "Shaftesbury Avenue", you can walk to the "Oxford Street" in just a few minutes, how convenient XD
It's very very dark but not very deep...
Some of the entrances/exits are blocked, but if you're slim enough, you can go inside.
I went there alone and spent hours exploring the trenches a few times before, but I would not recommend going inside alone after my last solo trip there (especially some trenches far away from the hiking path).
