While I respect every child is different, I think sports is very important for children as it teaches them competition which is a microcosm of the world at large. I think there is a lot to be gained in terms of honing skills, team work and winning/losing. There is obviously a fine line however between children participating in sports to learn such lessons and their parents pushing them to extremes that can later be detrimental to their development.

I 100% agree. Sports are an essential part of a child development. Sports contribute greatly to the physical, social and emotional growth of our kids and teach them values and perseverance. Parents just need to be careful not to lose sight of why their kids are playing.
That is right. It seems like many debates these days no one can find a middle ground.
